This piece is made of porcelain and crystalline glaze, with a white interior glaze.
We use only high-fire crystalline glazes. Since our glazes are fired at such high temperatures, they will not fade or tarnish in the dishwasher.
Each piece made with crystalline glazes is unique because the crystals grow as they please. During the firing process, the crystals begin to form in various clusters and shapes. Each piece is unique, and no two will ever be the exact same.
Our pieces are handmade by ceramic artist and retired teacher, Thomas Mackenzie Brown. Thomas studied the art of ceramics during his college career and knew it was his passion early on. He has been working with crystalline glazes for over 40 years and is a gallery-featured artist along the California coast.
